    Oct 8 (Sat): Pyongyang

    Arrival in Pyongyang

    • Depart from Beijing by Air Koryo flight JS 152 Beijing-Pyongyang at 12.55 from TERMINAL 2, Beijing Capital Airport . Arrive in Pyongyang at 15.30 local time
    • Transfer to Pyongyang
    • Stop by Arch of Triumph - built in 1982 to commemorate President Kim Il Sung’s role in resisting Japanese rule, it is the second tallest triumphal arch in the world. Each of its 25,500 blocks of finely-dressed white granite represents a day of his life up to that point
    • Check-in at the Yanggakdo International Hotel **** - one of the best Pyongyang hotels (first class and deluxe suits are also available at extra charge), it is beautifully located in the middle of Taedong river

    Discover ancient history of Pyongyang

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Visit incredible Kumsusan Palace of Sun - Mausoleum for president Kim Il Sung and for the leader Kim Jong Il. To visit the Mausoleum tourists should follow a strict dress code: no shorts, T-shirts and sandals, no blue jeans and mini-skirts
    • Drive to Pyongyang Railway Station
    • NEW! Experience unique Trolley bus ride - see the streets of the capital from the iconic worker's transport which is still used only in some other former socialist states! It is a classic vehicle from 1950s which is still in service on the streets of Pyongyang. The route starts at Pyongyang Railway Station and ends at Arch of Triumph with stop at Chollima Monument
    • Visit unique Jonsong Revolutionary Site - a system of tunnels used as a wartime HQ by Korea People's Army. Here we will see the preserved rooms where soldiers and officers slept, lived and had meetings
    • Move to Moranbong Park - a recreation area where locals have picnics and sing songs during weekends. It is a unique opportunity to socialize with local people
    • Lunch on the pleasure boat in Taedong river
    • Transfer to Kim Il Sung Square - Pyongyang’s central square where Korea’s massive military parades normally take place. Opened in August Juche 43 (1954) it is the 30th largest square in the world
    • Start a walking tour of the Pyongyang center with a stop in Pyongyang Foreign Language Book Shop - the popular shop where you can buy propaganda posters, books and other souvenirs
    • Head to Taedong Park - a great place a few minutes away from Kim Il Sung Square to enjoy a peceful park and a walk along the Taedong river
    • Taedong Park is full of hidden treasures. Don’t miss one of them - Pyongyang Bell - national treasure, it was rung to announce invasions, natural disasters, New Year's Day and other major events. The current bell was cast in 1726 during the Ri dynasty to replace an earlier one that was destroyed by fire in 1714
    • Walk along the Taedong river to Taedong Gate - built in the mid-6th century, it is the east gate of the inner castle of the Walled City of Pyongyang (Pyongyang Castle, Koguryo dynasty) situated on the bank of River Taedong
    • Stop by Ryonggwang Pavillion - one of the 8 scenic wonders of western part of Korea
    • NEW! Walk from Kim Il Sung Square to Pyongyang Grand Theatre - opened 1960, it is a huge statement of socialist cultural superiority situated in the very center of Pyongyang
    • Pay respect to heroes in Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs' Cemetery - built on the occasion of 60th anniversary of the Korean War (1950/53) to commemorate memory of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the motherland
    • Have Dinner
    • Continue your evening in Golden Lane Bowling Center - the huge entertainment center, a good chance to mix with locals and watch some stellar displays of local bowling talent and relax after long sightseeing day. There is also a shooting range next door

    THE FOUNDATION DAY OF THE WORKER’S PARTY OF KOREA

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Walk in Mansudae Fountain Park - composed of many beautifully designed in shape of dancing women fountains, this park is a place to enjoy jets of water reaching up to 80 meters
    • Visit majestic Mansudae Grand Monument - the huge bronze statues of the leaders standing in the center of the composition with two monuments titled "Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Struggle" and "Socialist Construction" on both sides. It was renovated in April 2012 following the passing away of the leader Kim Jong Il and a new statue of Kim Jong Il was added next to Kim Il Sung's
    • Explore Military Hardware Exhibition House of the Korean People's Army - one of the finest, most impressive museums in the DPRK offering an amazing display different kinds of weapons and combat equipment: small arms, artillery, tanks, warships, aircrafts and strategic rockets produced at munitions factories of the DPRK
    • Lunch
    • Take ride in Pyongyang Metro - one of the deepest subways in the world, it was designed to serve as a bomb shelter in case of war. The stations' interiors are stunning with superb lighting and mosaics. This is a great chance to interact with local people and explore several subway stations
    • Enjoy circus performance in Pyongyang Circus
    • Observe Pyongyang from the top of Juche Tower - at 150m it is the highest stone monument in the world. Take elevator to the top of the tower to enjoy the magnificent view of Pyongyang (optional, 5 Euro p/p)
    • Visit Monument to Workers' Party of Korea - opened in Juche 84 (1995) the monument depicts the hammer, sickle and brush seized by a worker, a farmer and an intellectual. The round belt means the single-hearted unity of the leader, Party and people
    • Enjoy Mass Dance - one of the most well known images of North Korea: students of local universities get on the main city's squares and dance dressed in traditional Korean suit
    • Dinner in one of the Pyongyang’s restaurants
    • Continue evening in Kaeson Youth Funfair - one of the most popular amusement parks and nightspots in Pyongyang, it was recently renovated. This is a great place to observe local people and take pictures with them

    Oct 11 (Tue): Pyongyang Mt.Myohyang Pyongyang

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Drive to Mt.Myohyang - the Mountain of Mysterious Fragrance, one of the five celebrated mountains of Korea. It is a sacred site as, according to legend, it was the home of King Tangun, forefather of the Korean people. In 2009 UNESCO designated Mount Myohyang a world biosphere reserve
    • Upon arrival visit grandiose International Friendship Exhibition - the world's biggest treasure-house. On exhibit are gifts received by DPRK's leaders over the years. One building stores the presents given to President Kim Il Sung, while a smaller one holds those given to Leader Kim Jong Il
    • After impressing exhibition relax in tranquil Pohyon temple - one of the five famous Buddhist temples of Korea, it was built nearly 1,000 years ago
    • Enjoy your lunch
    • Drive back to Pyongyang
    • Visit Pyongyang Schoolchildren’s Palace - one of 2 major centers of extra curriculum education built for the Korean Communist Youth of Pyongyang. There may be a chance to see a performance prepared by local children
    • Continue evening in Pyongyang microbrewery and bar - try several types of locally brewed beer and wide variety of international cuisine (at your own expense)

    Oct 12 (Wed): Pyongyang Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Kaesong Pyongyang

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Drive to Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) - a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula that serves as a buffer zone between North and South Korea, it is one of the most militarized area on our planet
    • Visit Panmunjom - a village where in 1953 Armistice Talks were held between the DPR Korea and the United Nation Command. Visit the blue tent-like building located exactly on the borderline between Koreas. You can walk around the conference room and hop from South to North Korea while you are in this building. This is one of the few places where you can take pictures of the DPRK military
    • Transfer to Kaesong - capital of Korea up to the 15th century. Kaesong is the only city in Korea which has preserved its original historical make up as it hasn't been destroyed during the Korean war. It is a home for 12 historic sites from the UNESCO World Heritage List. Kaesong is considered to be home of Koryo insam (ginseng) and so be prepared to buy some of the best insam in the Far East
    • Walk in Janamsan Park - located on a hill overlooking the city it is a great place to enjoy the beautiful panorama of the old Kaesong
    • Visit Sungkyunkwan University - the oldest Confucian University established in 10th century. Since 1987 here is Kaesong Koryo Museum exhibiting one of the largest wooden buildings to still exist in the DPRK. Here you can see several UNESCO World Heritage Sites including Sonjuk Bridge - a small stone bridge dating back to 1216. The stamp shop here is excellent place to buy some souvenirs
    • Enjoy lunch at Tongil restaurant - "Tongil" means "Reunification" in Korean, it is one of the most famous restaurants in Kaesong where you can experience royal meal with multiple side-dishes. For anyone wanting to supplement their lunch, there will be an opportunity to sample Korea’s famous ginseng chicken soup (at extra charge)
    • Drive back to Pyongyang. On the way back there will be a short photo-break at Monument to the Three Charters for National Reunification - the monument representing desire of Korean people for reunification. It is shaped in form of two Korean women holding Korean peninsula over the Thongil highway from Pyongyang to DMZ
    • Inspect one of the finest exhibitions of the DPRK Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum - unveiled in 2013 by the leader Kim Jong Un after massive renovation this museum explains the origins of the Korean War (1950-53) between South and North. Here you will see the only US ship captured by a foreign country - the spy ship USS Pueblo, as well as American weapons and shot down planes. The museum features amazing displays and excellent dioramas
    • Enjoy dinner in famous BBQ Duck Restaurant

    Oct 13 (Thu): Pyongyang Wonsan Mt.Kumgang Wonsan Mt.Kumgang

    Enjoy beauty of Korean autumn leaves in Diamond Mountain National Park

    • Drive to Wonsan - port city and naval base on the westernmost shore of the East Korean Sea, Korea’s 5th largest city. There are a lot of beautiful beaches around Wonsan making it a touristic Mekka of the DPRK
    • On the way make a short stop at Sinpyong Lake - the resting place right half-way between Pyongyang and Wonsan, there is a rest house with bathrooms and refreshments
    • Arrive in Wonsan and take a short break at Wonsan central square - located in the city's heart it features recently renovated monuments to the leaders. A few minutes walk from the central square there is a harbor where you can see local people fishing
    • Have lunch at Kalmaegi fish restaurant in Wonsan
    • Move to Songdowon International Children's Union Camp - perfect place for schoolchildren between April and October not only from Korea but from other countries as well. It is situated right on the coast and boasts white, sandy beaches
    • Drive to Mt.Kumgang - "diamond mountain" in Korean, it is one of the most famous mountains in Korea. "If I were to die the day after seeing Kumgang, I would have no regrets", said the Chinese Song Dynasty poet Su Shi (1037-1101). Until 2010 Mt.Kumgang had been off-limits to most foreigners visiting North Korea
    • Enroute visit Chonsam cooperative farm - "an area of three villages where springs well out" in Korean. You will hear the great story about Kim Il Song who visited this farm and spotted how many persimmons were hanging at a tree. You will visit agricultural fields, kindergarten and local store
    • Upon arrival in Mt.Kumgang take a short walk round Samil Lagoon - widely known for its crystal-clear water, rocky hills and thick forests. According to legend, a king once visited the lake for a day but was so amazed by its beauty that he stayed there for three days, hence the name Samil (three days)

    Oct 14 (Fri): Mt.Kumgang

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Take easy hike along Kuryongyon Course - the most beautiful track in Outer Kumgang, it is about 7 - 8 km walk from Mokran restaurant to Kuryong (Nine Dragon) Waterfalls
    • Lunch at Mokran Restaurant - famous restaurant at the foot of Mt.Kumgang
    • Enjoy optional hike along Manmulsang Course - this famous hiking course has hundreds of different rocky peaks, each of which has its own legend. It is 5-6 km, 3-4h walk: Mansangjung - Samsunam Rock - Chilchungam Rock - Jeolbuam Rock - Anshimdae Cliff - Hanulmun - Cheonseondae Cliff - Mangyangdae Cliff
    • Dinner
    • Relax in Kumgangsan Hot Springs - located about 300 m from Kumgangsan Hotel **** , this spa is rich in radium, minerals and silica with temperature of 37 to 44C

    Oct 15 (Sat): Mt.Kumgang Wonsan Hamhung

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Transfer to Sijung Beach & Motel - one of a number of tranquil white, sandy beaches in North Korea. Sijung beach is half way between Wonsan and Mt.Kumgang
    • Drive to Wonsan Agricultural University - the most important agricultural university in the country. It was visited by the leaders on many occasions
    • Continue to Hamhung - second largest city, one of the major industrial centers and a port city with some beautiful coastline. It was closed to tourists until 2010. The city was heavily destroyed (80–90%) during the Korean War
    • Upon arrival explore Tonghungsan park - Hamhung's central park with the bronze statue of the leaders erected at the foot of the mountain. With many old beautiful pavilions and restaurants, Tonghungsan park a favorite place for locals to spend a holiday day
    • Lunch
    • Move to downtown and stop by Hamhung Grand Theatre - largest building in the city and one of the biggest theaters in the DPRK
    • Visit House of Li Song Gye - former army general and the first king of the Li Dynasty. The Li Dynasty succeeded the Koryo Dynasty in 1392 after Koryo had come to an end after almost 500 years of rule
    • Dinner
    • Transfer to Majon beach - beautiful 50-100 m wide white sandy beach 25 km southeast of Hamhung. The name Majon derives from the hemp which used to be planted a lot in old days
    • Check-in at Majon Guesthouse * - the coast for our overnight stay. Here you can swim in the beautifully clean East Sea of Korea

    Oct 16 (Sun): Hamhung Pujon Hamhung

    Enjoy amazing views of the countryside that doesn’t exist elsewhere in the country

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • NEW! Drive to one of the most scenic autumn landscapes of the DPRK - Pujon - the place of unique beauty where you will see secluded villages and farms located in amazing mountain
    • We will have picnic lunch: local specialties - non-pickled Kimchi and baked potatoes
    • Transfer to River of Rocks in Mt.Okryon - from the top at an elevation of 1550 meter there is a 60 meter wide and 800 meter long impressive ‘river’ of big rocks. Around the river there are famous Slogan Trees carved out by Revolutionary Soldiers
    • Visit Pujon Revolutionary Site - located at the top of the Mt.Okryon it is Korean People's Revolutionary Army secret base built in 1930s
    • Return to Hamhung

    Oct 17 (Mon): Hamhung Wonsan Pyongyang

    • Breakfast
    • Stop by Hungnam Fertilizer Factory - the largest chemical plant in the Far East. The plant was founded during Japanese occupation in 1927, and then it was destroyed during Korean War but in the 50th it was rebuilt. Nowadays the plant has 7,300 workers, among which 35% are women
    • Move to Wonsan
    • Visit Kaeson Revolutionary Museum in Wonsan - former Wonsan Railway Station turned into museum
    • Lunch
    • Drive to Ulim Waterfall - one of the famous waterfalls in Korea, it was discovered by Korean soldiers in 2001. The waterfall falls from 45m making thunderous sound echo as far as four kilometers around. That is why the waterfall is called "Ullim" or "echo" in Korean
    • Drive to Tomb of King Tongmyong - the royal tomb of Tongmyong (58–19 BC), the founder of the ancient Koguryo dynasty. It was included into UNESCO World Heritage list in 2004
    • Arrive in Pyongyang
    • Farewell dinner

    • After breakfast in the hotel transfer to the airport and depart by Air Koryo flight JS 151 Pyongyang-Beijing at 8.30 in the morning from Pyongyang Airport . Arrive in Beijing at 09.55 in the morning (local time)
