    Explore most of the cities opened for tourists in central Korea after Pyongyang International Marathon which will be held on April 9 . Celebrate 105th birthday of President Kim Il Sung on April 15 (the Day of the Sun). We will also try to witness Young Pioneer Dedication Ceremony! Enjoy extensive sightseeing program in Pyongyang, and Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) at the border with South Korea, explore Nampo city - the biggest port at the west coast where you will see one of the Juche miracles - West Sea Barrage, and visit Pyongyang Gift Exhibition - an impressive exhibition of gifts to great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il from overseas Koreans. On the Day of the Sun join in Mass Dance of local students at one of the Pyongyang’s squares and visit unique Flower exhibition dedicated to ‘Kimilsungia’ and ‘Kimjongilia’ flowers.
    Go to the east coast and stroll down Wonsan city - the biggest port of the DPRK, enjoy unbelievable landscapes of Mt.Kumgang (“Diamond Mountain”) - one of the most beautiful mountains in Korea, and then visit the second biggest city of the DPRK - Hamhung.

    Apr 8 (Sat): Pyongyang

    Arrival in Pyongyang

    • Departure from Beijing by Air Koryo flight JS 152 Beijing-Pyongyang at 12.55 from TERMINAL 2, Beijing Capital Airport . Arrive in Pyongyang at 15.30 local time
    • NOTE: The flight departure time is approximate. Due to high demand of Marathon there will be a lot of tourists and thus the departure time of the flight to Pyongyang can be changed. We strongly advise to arrive in Beijing one day before your departure to Pyongyang
    • Transfer to Pyongyang
    • Stop by Arch of Triumph - built in 1982 to commemorate President Kim Il Sung’s role in resisting Japanese rule, it is the second tallest triumphal arch in the world. Each of its 25,500 blocks of finely-dressed white granite represents a day of his life up to that point
    • Move to the central Pyongyang and observe majestic Mansudae Grand Monument - the huge bronze statues of the leaders standing in the center of the composition with two monuments titled "Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Struggle" and "Socialist Construction" on both sides. It was renovated in April 2012 following the passing away of the leader Kim Jong Il and a new statue of Kim Jong Il was added next to Kim Il Sung's
    • Behind Mansudae Grand Monument you will see Chollima Monument - named after a mythical winged horse (Chollima in Korean literally means "thousand-mile horse"). In the period of reconstruction following the Korean War Cholima was the symbol inspiring workers to rebuild their nation at ‘Chollima Speed’
    • Check-in at the Yanggakdo International Hotel **** - one of the best Pyongyang hotels (first class and deluxe suits are also available at extra charge), it is beautifully located in the middle of Taedong river
    • Dinner at the hotel

    Pyongyang International Marathon

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Move to Kim Il Sung Stadium - originally built in 1926 and last time renovated in April 1982 it is used mainly for football matches, and it hosted the mass games until the 1990s. Today it is the home of Pyongyang International Marathon and Mass Gymnastic Show where the marathon starts and finishes, and get ready for the Pyongyang International Marathon - is an annual marathon race contested each April. The International Association of Athletics Federation designates the marathon as a bronze-label event and it registers the records of professional runners. This will be the third year that the marathon will be open to amateur runners so don’t loose your chance and join a 10km run, half or a full marathon. Those who are not running can stay at the stadium and enjoy soccer match (20 Euro extra charge) between Korean teams or watch and cheer marathoners from the streets
    • After Marathon Awarding Ceremony move back to the hotel, take shower and change clothes
    • Enjoy Lunch
    • Relax at Munsu Waterpark - the first park of this kind in Pyongyang. It features indoor and outdoor pools, amazing waterslides, coffee shop, a beer bar, table tennis, billiards massage and a beauty salon. A great place to chat with local people. Entrance 3 Euro, those who would like to swim be ready to pay 10 Euro
    • Visit Mangyongdae Native House - the birthplace of President Kim Il Sung
    • Enjoy unique Tram ride around the city - a ride from Mangyongdae Native House to Pyongyang Railway Station with a stop at Pyongyang Circus. The tram system was built after the end of the Korean War and it is still the main means of transportation for working population to get to work and back home
    • Dinner in one of Pyongyang’s restaurants
    • Play bowling with locals in Golden Lane Bowling Center - the huge entertainment center, a good chance to mix with locals and watch some stellar displays of local bowling talent and relax after long sightseeing day. There is also a shooting range next door

    Apr 10 (Mon): Pyongyang Wonsan Mt.Kumgang

    • Drive to Wonsan - port city and naval base on the westernmost shore of the East Korean Sea, Korea’s 5th largest city. There are a lot of beautiful beaches around Wonsan making it a touristic Mekka of the DPRK
    • On the way make a short stop at Sinpyong Lake - the resting place right half-way between Pyongyang and Wonsan, there is a rest house with bathrooms and refreshments and then continue to Ulim Waterfall - one of the famous waterfalls in Korea, it was discovered by Korean soldiers in 2001. The waterfall falls from 45m making thunderous sound echo as far as four kilometers around. That is why the waterfall is called "Ullim" or "echo" in Korean
    • Arrive in Wonsan and take a short break at Wonsan central square - located in the city's heart it features recently renovated monuments to the leaders. A few minutes walk from the central square there is a harbor where you can see local people fishing
    • Have lunch at Kalmaegi fish restaurant in Wonsan
    • Move to Songdowon International Children's Union Camp - perfect place for schoolchildren between April and October not only from Korea but from other countries as well. It is situated right on the coast and boasts white, sandy beaches
    • Visit Chonsam cooperative farm - "an area of three villages where springs well out" in Korean. You will hear the great story about Kim Il Song who visited this farm and spotted how many persimmons were hanging at a tree. You will visit agricultural fields, kindergarten and local store
    • Drive to Mt.Kumgang - "diamond mountain" in Korean, it is one of the most famous mountains in Korea. "If I were to die the day after seeing Kumgang, I would have no regrets", said the Chinese Song Dynasty poet Su Shi (1037-1101). Until 2010 Mt.Kumgang had been off-limits to most foreigners visiting North Korea

    Apr 11 (Tue): Mt.Kumgang

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Take a walk around Samil Lagoon - widely known for its crystal-clear water, rocky hills and thick forests. According to legend, a king once visited the lake for a day but was so amazed by its beauty that he stayed there for three days, hence the name Samil (three days)
    • Kuryongyon Course - the most beautiful track in Outer Kumgang, it is about 7 - 8 km walk from Mokran restaurant to Kuryong (Nine Dragon) Waterfalls
    • Enjoy lunch at Mokran Restaurant - famous restaurant at the foot of Mt.Kumgang
    • Manmulsang Course - this famous hiking course has hundreds of different rocky peaks, each of which has its own legend. It is 5-6 km, 3-4h walk: Mansangjung - Samsunam Rock - Chilchungam Rock - Jeolbuam Rock - Anshimdae Cliff - Hanulmun - Cheonseondae Cliff - Mangyangdae Cliff
    • Kumgangsan Hot Springs - located about 300 m from Kumgangsan Hotel **** - modern hotel with superb mountain view and all necessary facilities , this spa is rich in radium, minerals and silica with temperature of 37 to 44C

    Apr 12 (Wed): Mt.Kumgang Hamhung Wonsan Hamhung

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Move to Sijung Beach & Motel - one of a number of tranquil white, sandy beaches in North Korea. Sijung beach is half way between Wonsan and Mt.Kumgang
    • Drive to Hamhung - second largest city, one of the major industrial centers and a port city with some beautiful coastline. It was closed to tourists until 2010. The city was heavily destroyed (80–90%) during the Korean War
    • On the way stop by Wonsan Agricultural University - the most important agricultural university in the country. It was visited by the leaders on many occasions
    • Upon arrival in Hamhung explore Tonghungsan park - Hamhung's central park with the bronze statue of the leaders erected at the foot of the mountain. With many old beautiful pavilions and restaurants, Tonghungsan park a favorite place for locals to spend a holiday day
    • Move to downtown and stop by Hamhung Grand Theatre - largest building in the city and one of the biggest theaters in the DPRK
    • Enjoy dinner in one of the city’s restaurants
    • Transfer to Majon beach - beautiful 50-100 m wide white sandy beach 25 km southeast of Hamhung. The name Majon derives from the hemp which used to be planted a lot in old days

    Apr 13 (Thu): Hamhung Wonsan Pyongyang

    • Breakfast
    • Visit Hungnam Fertilizer Factory - the largest chemical plant in the Far East. The plant was founded during Japanese occupation in 1927, and then it was destroyed during Korean War but in the 50th it was rebuilt. Nowadays the plant has 7,300 workers, among which 35% are women
    • Stop by House of Li Song Gye - former army general and the first king of the Li Dynasty. The Li Dynasty succeeded the Koryo Dynasty in 1392 after Koryo had come to an end after almost 500 years of rule
    • Lunch in Hamhung’s downtown
    • Move to Tongbong Cooperative Farm - model village with about 1000 farmers who grow rice, millet, corn, vegetables, poultry and pigs. You will have a chance to visit a farmer's house, a kindergarten (bring along your gifts!) and a local shop where you can buy locally-made products
    • Drive back to Pyongyang
    • On the way to Pyongyang make a short stop at Sinpyong Lake
    • Upon arrival in Pyongyang enjoy dinner

    Apr 14 (Fri): Pyongyang Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Kaesong Pyongyang

    • Drive (about 2h) to Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) - a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula that serves as a buffer zone between North and South Korea, it is one of the most militarized area on our planet
    • Visit Panmunjom - a village where in 1953 Armistice Talks were held between the DPR Korea and the United Nation Command. Visit the blue tent-like building located exactly on the borderline between Koreas. You can walk around the conference room and hop from South to North Korea while you are in this building. This is one of the few places where you can take pictures of the DPRK military
    • Move to Kaesong - capital of Korea up to the 15th century. Kaesong is the only city in Korea which has preserved its original historical make up as it hasn't been destroyed during the Korean war. It is a home for 12 historic sites from the UNESCO World Heritage List. Kaesong is considered to be home of Koryo insam (ginseng) and so be prepared to buy some of the best insam in the Far East
    • Walk in Janamsan Park - located on a hill overlooking the city it is a great place to enjoy the beautiful panorama of the old Kaesong
    • Enjoy lunch at Tongil restaurant - "Tongil" means "Reunification" in Korean, it is one of the most famous restaurants in Kaesong where you can experience royal meal with multiple side-dishes. For anyone wanting to supplement their lunch, there will be an opportunity to sample Korea’s famous ginseng chicken soup (at extra charge)
    • Explore Sungkyunkwan University - the oldest Confucian University established in 10th century. Since 1987 here is Kaesong Koryo Museum exhibiting one of the largest wooden buildings to still exist in the DPRK. Here you can see several UNESCO World Heritage Sites including Sonjuk Bridge - a small stone bridge dating back to 1216. The stamp shop here is excellent place to buy some souvenirs
    • Move back (about 2h) to Pyongyang. On the way back you will make a short photo-stop at Monument to the Three Charters for National Reunification - the monument representing desire of Korean people for reunification. It is shaped in form of two Korean women holding Korean peninsula over the Thongil highway from Pyongyang to DMZ
    • Learn history of Korean war in one of the finest museums of the DPRK Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum - unveiled in 2013 by the leader Kim Jong Un after massive renovation this museum explains the origins of the Korean War (1950-53) between South and North. Here you will see the only US ship captured by a foreign country - the spy ship USS Pueblo, as well as American weapons and shot down planes. The museum features amazing displays and excellent dioramas
    • Have dinner in one of Pyongyang’s restaurants

    Day of the Sun and Young Pioneer Dedication Ceremony

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Visit Kumsusan Palace of Sun - Mausoleum of president Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il. To visit the Mausoleum tourists should follow a strict dress code: no shorts, T-shirts and sandals, no blue jeans and mini-skirts
    • Walk in Mansudae Fountain Park - composed of many beautifully designed in shape of dancing women fountains, this park is a place to enjoy jets of water reaching up to 80 meters
    • Kim Il Sung Square - Pyongyang’s central square where Korea’s massive military parades normally take place. Opened in August Juche 43 (1954) it is the 30th largest square in the world
    • Observe Pyongyang from the top of Juche Tower - at 150m it is the highest stone monument in the world. Take elevator to the top of the tower to enjoy the magnificent view of Pyongyang (optional, 5 Euro p/p)
    • Drop by Flower exhibition - a show mainly dedicated to Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia, two flowers named after Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. Every year there are about 30,000 flowers presented by Army forces, commissions and ministries of the cabinet and national institutions, foreign friends and overseas compatriots. It is a great chance to buy roots of these beautiful flowers for your garden
    • Monument to Workers' Party of Korea - opened in Juche 84 (1995) the monument depicts the hammer, sickle and brush seized by a worker, a farmer and an intellectual. The round belt means the single-hearted unity of the leader, Party and people
    • Have Lunch
    • If there will be opportunity we will witness Young Pioneer Dedication Ceremony in one of the Pyongyang’s schools
    • Pyongyang Metro - one of the deepest subways in the world, it was designed to serve as a bomb shelter in case of war. The stations' interiors are stunning with superb lighting and mosaics. This is a great chance to interact with local people and explore several subway stations
    • Pyongyang circus or revolutionary opera - enjoy real socialist art (about 20 Euro per ticket)
    • Mass Dance - one of the most well known images of North Korea: students of local universities get on the main city's squares and dance dressed in traditional Korean suit
    • Dinner
    • Celebrate Day of the Sun in Pyongyang microbrewery and bar - try several types of locally brewed beer and wide variety of international cuisine (at your own expense)
    • Watch expected fireworks on the occasion of the Day of the Sun!

    • Drive to Chongsanri Cooperative Farm - the DPRK’s most famous farm, the birthplace of the famous Chongsanri spirit and Chongsanri farming method
    • Observe West Sea Barrage - built from 1981 to 1986 this 8 km barrage is a source of pride in the DPRK
    • Museum of West Sea Barrage Construction
    • Lunch
    • Chollima Steel Complex - recently opened for tourism, it is an impressive complex with wide boulevards, rail infrastructure, grand propaganda murals, and imposing buildings
    • Nampo Orphanage - visit the cuttest little children you have ever seen. If you would like to make small gifts or donation for the children you are always welcome
    • Check in The Ryonggang Hot Spring Hotel *** - or “Dragon River Hot Spa Resort” consists of seven villas each with 4 neatly decorated appatments equipped with its own private hot spring tub. The salty water comes directly from the waterbed beneath the ground and has countless health benefits. It is the richest in mineral matters among the spas of Korea

    • Visit Kangso Spring Water Factory - one of a few places to see how mineral water is bottled from its beginning to its packaging. After the tour visitors can try locally produced mineral water
    • Move Back to Pyongyang
    • Enjoy picnic Lunch in Ryongak Hill - called "Dragon Hill" (Ryongak in Korean) it is a rocky peak in Pyongyang's suburbs. At 292 m Tae peak is the highest giving splendid views on the city. It is a popular hiking and BBQ destination for the capital inhabitants
    • Pyongyang Gift Exhibition - an impressive exhibition of gifts to great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il from overseas Koreans. It is a branch of International Friendship Exhibition in Mt.Myohyang
    • Shopping in Kwangbok Supermarket - located at one of the biggest city's street it is a popular mall where visitors can exchange money into local Won in order to shop
    • Enjoy a walking tour of the Pyongyang center. Start at Kim Il Sung Square
    • Walk to Pyongyang Foreign Language Book Shop - the popular shop where you can buy propaganda posters, books and other souvenirs
    • Head to Taedong Park - a great place a few minutes away from Kim Il Sung Square to enjoy a peceful park and a walk along the Taedong river
    • Inspect Pyongyang Bell - national treasure, it was rung to announce invasions, natural disasters, New Year's Day and other major events. The current bell was cast in 1726 during the Ri dynasty to replace an earlier one that was destroyed by fire in 1714
    • Walk along the Taedong river to Taedong Gate - built in the mid-6th century, it is the east gate of the inner castle of the Walled City of Pyongyang (Pyongyang Castle, Koguryo dynasty) situated on the bank of River Taedong
    • Stop by Ryonggwang Pavillion - one of the 8 scenic wonders of western part of Korea
    • Farewell dinner at BBQ Duck Restaurant

    • After breakfast in the hotel transfer to the airport and departure by Air Koryo flight JS 151 Pyongyang-Beijing at 8.30 in the morning from Pyongyang Airport . Arrive in Beijing at 09.55 in the morning (local time)
